Ghanaian midfielder Lawrence Agyekum has pointed out that playing alongside big names like Thomas Partey, Mohammed Kudus and other top compatriots has given him many great lessons moving forward in his career.
Agyekum made his debut for Ghana on 21 March 2025 as a late second-half substitute for Black Stars deputy captain Thomas Partey during the 5–0 victory against Chad in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification Matchday 5. at the Accra Sports Stadium.
He earned a second call up for the national team during the Unity games in May and scored his first goal for Ghana in the third-placeplayoffs of the friendly tournament, which Ghana won 4–0 against Caribbean side, Trinidad and Tobago.

The 21-year-old, who joined Belgium Pro League side, Cercle Brugge from Austrian outfit Red Bull Salzburg on loan ahead of a successful 2024-25 season in his club career, spoke to GTV Sports Plus.
“It’s good to play with great players. There is a lot that you have to learn from them. Thomas Partey is one of the greatest players, the way he plays, his composure, his intelligence, his vision is on a different level.
“I had to watch and learn, I had to humble myself just like a servant so I can learn from him [Thomas Parety] and others.”.
Agyekum started his career in Ghana with an Ashaiman-based club before joining West African Football Academy (WAFA), then secured a transfer abroad to Red Bull Salzburg in 2022.
He had a loan spell at FC Liefering, a subsidiary of Red Bull Salzburg and also at Belgian side, Cercle Brugge before securing a permanent deal with the Belgium Jupiler Pro League side after a stupendous performance during his time on loan.
He made 42 appearances in all competitions with 3 goals and 2 assists for Cercle Brugge as they finished 13th on the league log, securing 32 points before escaping relegation with a playoff victory over second tier side Patro Eisden.
