Police in Accra have arrested four men in connection with an alleged assault at Ashongman Estate, involving officials of a microfinance company.
The arrests were carried out by the Kwabenya District Police Command following a complaint lodged by a resident of the area.
According to police reports, the complainant, Madam Hagar Emaser, 42, alleged that on March 13, 2026, four men believed to be officials of Bills Microfinance visited her home to demand repayment of a loan. During the encounter, she claimed the men assaulted her while attempting to recover the money.
The suspects, arrested on March 14, 2026, have been identified as Denis Wornyo, 38; Albert Amarh, 40; Ebenezer Amartei, 23; and Atsu Lawson, 27.
The Accra Regional Police Command confirmed that caution statements have been taken from all four individuals as part of ongoing investigations. They remain in police custody assisting with the probe.
Police have urged victims of assault and other criminal acts to report incidents promptly to facilitate swift investigation and action.
The command also reminded the public that grievances relating to loan transactions or other civil matters should be resolved through lawful and peaceful means rather than taking the law into one’s own hands.
