The Ghana Police Service has arrested a young spiritualist identified as Horlali Alatusa in connection with the alleged murder of his girlfriend at Awutu Bentum in the Awutu Senya District.

According to reports, the suspect is the son of a well-known spiritualist and is believed to have taken over the spiritual practice following his father’s death.

Eyewitnesses say the incident came to light after a farmer in the area detected a strong foul smell coming from a section of the suspect’s farm.

The farmer reportedly alerted members of the community, prompting a search of the area.

During the search, residents allegedly discovered dismembered remains of a young woman, believed to be the suspect’s girlfriend.

Police were subsequently called to the scene and arrested the suspect to assist with investigations.

Following the discovery and the arrest, angry youth in the community reportedly vandalised and demolished the suspect’s house, expressing outrage over the incident.

The police have since taken over the case and are expected to continue investigations into the circumstances surrounding the killing.
