Police in the Bono Region have confirmed that the total deaths in the Techiman-Kintampo highway crash is 55.

A VVIP Kia bus with registration number GT 3915- 17  from Garu in the Upper East Region heading towards Kumasi collided with a Grandbird bus with registration number GT 5694-18 from Accra which was heading towards Bolgantaga also in the Upper East Region.

The exact number of deaths remained sceptical due to the gruesome nature of the accident.

However, the Sunyani Motor Traffic and Transport Department [MTTD] Commander of the Ghana police service, Superintendent Stella Sedame, in an interview Peace news confirmed that; the total number of passengers onboard both buses were 108, out of which 55 perished.

According to Sup Sedame, the total passengers onboard both buses, were 108, out of which 55 death cases have been recorded.

She said 35 passengers, 20 men and 7 women were burnt to ashes while 13 others in a critical condition and currently receiving treatment at the Holy Family hospital in Techiman.

The rest, 40, have been treated and discharged.
