Police officials in Kasoa in the Central Region, have killed a 32-year-old armed robber, popularly known as Abanga.

According to a report  Abanga’s two accomplices however escaped and are on the run.

Until his death, Abanga lived at Kasoa Zongo, and reportedly terrorized residents in the community.

Briefing journalists, the Kasoa Divisional Police Commander ACP Adjem Agyemang said the police patrol team received a distress call that some suspected armed robbers attempted to break into a susu collection company at Djan Nkwanta near Bawjiase.

The incident reportedly occurred on Friday, September 28, 2018 about 1am, and the police immediately proceeded to the scene.

He explained that when the police arrived, the deceased and his colleagues engaged them in a shootout, but the police fired four rounds of ammunition and succeeded in killing Abanga.

The two others, whose identities are yet to be established, however managed to escape.

ACP Agyemang stated that the body of the deceased has since been taken to the morgue for autopsy.

He appealed to residents in Kasoa and its surrounding towns to endeavour to report anyone they are suspicious of, for the police to deal with them.

Items retrieved from the scene included a locally manufactured pistol, two machetes and two ammunitions.
