A Police forensic report has cleared Emmanuel Hanson, a housemaster at Achimota Senior High School, of sextortion and sexual harassment claims that recently circulated on social media.
The allegations, made by former student Musah Hafsatu Osmanu and her mother, Daayimatu Abdallah, suggested that Mr. Hanson demanded sexual favours in exchange for the return of a confiscated mobile phone.
However, lawyers representing Mr. Hanson stated in a March 16, 2026, rejoinder that a forensic examination by the Criminal Investigation Department concluded there was no WhatsApp communication between Mr. Hanson and Ms. Osmanu.
“The forensic examination determined no WhatsApp conversation between the complainant (Mr. Emmanuel Hanson) and MTN numbers … (Musah Hafsatu Osmanu),” the legal team said.
The lawyers emphasized that the screenshots circulating online were unverified and lacked any identifiable features or dates linking them to Mr. Hanson, making them unreliable evidence.
The incident traces back to November 2025 when Mr. Hanson confiscated Ms. Osmanu’s phone in accordance with school regulations. After completing her WASSCE examinations, Ms. Osmanu requested the device’s return in December 2025, only to be informed that the phone was no longer in his possession.
The situation escalated following a follow-up call from her mother, during which tensions reportedly rose. An audio message containing threats was allegedly sent by Madam Abdallah, prompting Mr. Hanson to report the matter to the Achimota Police Station.
The legal team noted that Mr. Hanson voluntarily submitted his device for forensic analysis, while Ms. Osmanu declined to provide her phone for similar scrutiny. The police findings have since vindicated him, raising questions about the authenticity of the circulating claims.
“These allegations are false, unsupported by evidence, and have caused significant reputational damage and distress to Mr. Hanson and his family,” the lawyers stated, adding that legal action will be pursued against those responsible for spreading the claims.
The statement also dismissed social media rumours that Mr. Hanson had been arrested or prosecuted, describing them as entirely unfounded.
This development comes as a reminder of the importance of verifying information before dissemination, particularly on social media platforms.
