The Bono East Regional Police Command has restored order in Kwame Danso, Sene West District, after a violent mob attack on the District Court and District Police Headquarters on Wednesday, December 10.

According to an official police statement, the disturbance occurred around 10:30 a.m., when a group of about 100 angry youths stormed the District Court while proceedings were underway.

The mob assaulted court officials, vandalised furniture, ceiling fans, and other property, and forcibly freed two accused persons who were on trial.

The complainant in the case was also injured during the attack.

After leaving the court premises, the mob moved to the Kwame Danso Police Headquarters, where they attacked two police officers on duty and caused further destruction to the facility.

To contain the situation, a reinforcement team from the Atebubu Police Division, supported by personnel from the Formed Police Units (FPU), was deployed to the town.

Their presence helped restore calm and prevent further escalation.

In response to the attack and following directives from the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), both the Kwame Danso Police Station and the District Police Headquarters have been temporarily closed. Officers previously stationed there have been reassigned to other parts of the region to ensure their safety and operational efficiency.

The Bono East Regional Police Command says it is actively pursuing all individuals involved in the violent incident and has assured the public that all perpetrators will be identified, arrested, and prosecuted.

Authorities have urged residents to remain calm as investigations continue.
