West Africa Senior High School (WASS) will face off with Adisadel College and St. Peters Senior High School (SHS) for the finals of the 2018 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ).

The Adenta-based school was the last to qualify for the finals of the keenly contested competition after eliminating defending champions Prempeh College and Krobo Girls SHS.

From the beginning, it was clearly a battle between Prempeh College and WASS as they went head to head sidelining the girls from the Eastern region.

The end of Round One saw the battle line clearly drawn with the two school jostling against each other for supremacy as Prempeh took the lead with three points. The round ended 26 points for the Kumasi boys leaving WASS with 23 points.

Krobo Girls SHS were left staring defeat in the face as they ended the round behind the two schools with 11 points.

The Speed Race round highlighted the strength of WASS as they picked most of the questions in the round-which were directed to all schools-simultaneously. They upstaged Prempeh College to end the round in the lead.

But that was not the end as the defending champions scored 8 points out of 10 by solving the Problem of the Day better than their close competitors. WASS only managed 4 points while Krobo Girls SHS scored 6 points.

The True or False round brought the defending champions back to second best as WASS answered all but one of their questions to take the lead for the second time in the contest.
