President-elect John Dramani Mahama has announced the formation of a comprehensive transition team aimed at ensuring a seamless handover of power as he prepares to assume office on January 7, 2025.
The announcement, made during a press briefing in Accra, underscores Mahama's commitment to continuity and effective governance.
The team, which comprises experienced professionals and key members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), will work closely with the outgoing administration to facilitate the transfer of critical state information, resources, and ongoing projects.
The President-elect emphasized that the transition process would prioritize national interest over partisanship.
“Our focus is to ensure that the handover is smooth, efficient, and devoid of unnecessary disruptions,” Mahama stated. “This team has been carefully selected to manage the process with transparency and professionalism.”
Key members of the transition team include Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, tasked with overseeing fiscal and economic matters, and former Chief of Staff Julius Debrah, who will serve as the team’s coordinator.
Other notable members include experts in security, health, infrastructure, and education, reflecting the NDC's priority areas for its governance agenda.
The team has been mandated to assess the current state of government projects and policies, identifying gaps that need immediate attention.
High on the agenda is the economy, with plans to stabilize inflation, revive industries, and create jobs for the youth. The team will also examine unfinished infrastructure projects to prioritize those that require urgent completion.
Mahama assured Ghanaians that his administration is ready to hit the ground running. “We are here to serve the people, and this transition is the first step in fulfilling our promises,” he said.
As January 7 approaches, the transition team’s work will be closely monitored by citizens and stakeholders, with expectations high for a fresh start under Mahama’s leadership.
