President John Dramani Mahama, together with the leadership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has donated GH₵50,000 to the family of the late legendary highlife musician, Daddy Lumba.
The donation was presented on Saturday, December 13, during the final funeral rites of the iconic musician at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.
Supporters and sympathisers described the gesture as a show of unity, respect and compassion, urging Ghanaians to set aside differences and come together to honour the life and legacy of the celebrated artiste.
Daddy Lumba, whose real name was Charles Kwadwo Fosu, is widely regarded as one of Ghana’s greatest musicians, with a career spanning more than three decades. His timeless songs, lyrical depth and unique style earned him admiration across generations and firmly cemented his place in Ghana’s cultural history.
The funeral ceremony brought together family members, friends, fellow musicians, political leaders and thousands of fans from across the country to pay their final respects.
Daddy Lumba’s passing marks the end of an era in Ghanaian music, but his rich musical legacy continues to inspire and influence artistes and music lovers alike.
