Acting General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) John Boadu, has called on the Akufo-Addo led government to probe Former President John Mahama over an alleged diversion of $13 million of E.O. Group funds.

According to Mr. Boadu, the allegations although without weight must be given hearing despite the absurdity of the case.

His comments comes after a group of four individuals petitioned the office of the Special Prosecutor to have former President John Mahama probed in an alleged diversion of $13 million of E.O. Group funds meant for the development of the Western Region.

Although  its unusual, according to the Acting General Scribe of the NPP  for anyone to petition the special prosecutor against such a high office, he also admit the democratic right of every person who has any issue to petition the appropriate bodies to seek redress or clarification must be supported.

“…They have the right, we as a democratic party we will defend their right for petitioning on the matter” Boadu told Accra based Okay FM.

About a week ago some four valiant Ghanaians petitioned the Special Prosecutor Martin Amidu to probe into the alleged E.O. Group’s $13 million corporate social responsibility fund towards the development of the Western Region which the petitioners are claiming to have been diverted by Ex-President Mahama.

The four: Emmanuel Owusu, Eric Dumenu Akatsi, Peprah Kyei Baffour and Dawda Eric, In the petition, dated 18 June 2018, said: “We submit before your office, this petition to invoke section 3(1)(b) of the Office of the Special Prosecutor Act,2017(Act 959) to have former President John Dramani investigated for alleged diversion of $13m meant for the development of Western Region from the E.O. group of company as part of their corporate social responsibilities.

Subsequently, former President John Mahama has denied claims that he diverted $13 million of E.O. Group funds meant for the development of the Western Region while he was vice-president.

But speaking on Accra based Okay Fm, the aspiring general secretary said the issue might turn out not to be any serious matter in the course of the probe that’ll be launched into the case, however it is just right that everyone who has been accused of anything must face the full rigours of the law, no matter the person’s position.

“Even me the issues the young men have presented to the special prosecutor, I don’t understand, but the matter now rests with the special prosecutor to make a determination as to whether the four young men have a case or not.
