Former Minister of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, Prof. Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng, has declared that he has no intention of leaving the New Patriotic Party (NPP), even as the party moves to remove him over his recent criticisms.

Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen, the former minister turned the accusation back on his critics within the party, branding them “fake” and insisting they — not him — should step aside.

“I am not leaving the party. They should leave the party. They are the fake ones. They should go away, and the true party will stand,” he said.

His remarks come against the backdrop of reports that the NPP has initiated disciplinary processes aimed at expelling him following a series of public statements attacking the party’s internal leadership and operations.

Just a day earlier, on January 12, 2026, Prof. Frimpong-Boateng told Channel One TV that the NPP had become a “fake party” and suggested he no longer considered himself a member. He also alleged that the party’s 2023 presidential primary was manipulated to favour then Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

The comments triggered a sharp response from the party’s General Secretary, Justin Frimpong Koduah, who described the remarks as “highly reprehensible” and inconsistent with the NPP’s values of unity, integrity, and discipline. He also dismissed the allegations of rigging as unsubstantiated and rejected any suggestion that the party had lost its credibility.

Despite the backlash, Prof. Frimpong-Boateng has doubled down, insisting that his outspokenness is rooted in loyalty to the NPP’s founding principles, not hostility to the party itself.

According to him, his fight is not against the NPP, but against individuals he believes have strayed from its original ideals and are now undermining its integrity.
