Asante Kotoko head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum has expressed his enthusiasm about the quality and depth of his squad as the 2024/25 Ghana football season approaches.
The Porcupine Warriors have made significant changes to their roster, adding over 10 new players after parting ways with 21 members of last season's team.
Ogum shared his thoughts following Kotoko's 2-1 defeat to Medeama SC in a pre-season friendly over the weekend at T&N Park.
Despite the loss, he remains optimistic about the team's potential. "There is so much quality in the team," Ogum stated.
"We have to make sure that we give them the courage and confidence to be able to express themselves anytime we give them the opportunity.
So, the quality is there, there is depth in the team, and it is good for Kumasi Asante Kotoko."
In the match, Medeama took the lead with goals from Kofi Babil in the 21st minute and Prosper Boakye in the 89th minute.
Kotoko's Bernard Somuah managed to score in the 62nd minute, but it wasn't enough to avoid the defeat.
After a challenging 2023/24 season, where Kotoko finished 6th with 49 points in the Ghana Premier League, the club is aiming to compete for trophies in the upcoming campaign.
They will kick off their season with an away fixture against Karela United at the Aliu Mahama Stadium.
