The Referees Department has successfully wrapped up an intensive training program for Division One League (DOL) referees, held from October 12 to October 15 at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence.
The course, aimed at equipping referees for the upcoming 2024/25 season, was attended by 30 referees and 30 assistant referees in the first group of participants.
The training sessions covered a broad range of important areas, including the latest updates to the 2024/25 Laws of the Game, technical analysis, and physical preparation.
Practical exercises focused on key match situations, such as handling offside calls, interpreting handball incidents, and managing penalty decisions.
Special attention was given to topics like tactical fouls, referee positioning, and game control to enhance the quality of officiating in the league.
In addition to theoretical instruction, referees participated in fitness assessments, video analysis, and match-specific drills designed to improve their decision-making during live games.
The program also emphasized integrity in refereeing, stressing the importance of professionalism.
Referees were trained on using the Competitions Management System (CMS) to ensure accurate digital record-keeping throughout the season.
The course was overseen by the Referees Committee and the Referees Department, with the assistance of national and regional instructors, ensuring that officials are well-prepared to deliver high-quality performances in the DOL.
