The Film Producers Association of Ghana (FIPAG) has urged actors and actresses not to hesitate to report any movie director or executive producer who demands sex for movie roles.

FIPAG Public Relations Officer Nana Yaa Serwaa Osei, in an interview with Ray Charles Marfo on Adehye 99.1 FM’s Showbiz Arena, revealed that the sex-for-roles phenomenon was real.

She noted that the phenomenon occurs in every profession in Ghana and, therefore, gets surprised when people bash only those in the movie industry.

“I don’t know why people always say sex for positions exist only in the movie industry when in fact it’s happening everywhere… but FIPAG as a body won’t accept that anymore,” she stated.

“I entreat everybody to report any movie director who will demand sex-for-movie roles. If it’s not consensual, then you can pick a form at the FIPAG office and report for necessary action to be taken.”

The issue of exchanging sex for movie roles has trended in the movie industry for some time. While some believe it is an open secret, not much evidence has been provided to back those claims.
