Reshuffle Presidential staffers too – Apaak to Akufo-Addo
10th August 2018
National Democratic Congress [NDC] Member of Parliament for Builsa South, Dr. Clement Apaak wants President Akufo-Addo to include his presidential staffers, CEOs and their deputies at the various ministries in his [Akufo-Addo] upcoming ministerial reshuffling.
In his view, downsizing of the entire force of the government will reduce the pressure on the public purse.
Speaking on TV3, he asserted; “The president must get the right number of people presidential staffers to run the presidency effectively, together with the various CEOs and their deputies. So if the president want to downsize, he shouldn’t just look at the ministers, he should look at the totality of all his appointees and the fact that they all draw from article 71, if he does that, he will be applauded,”
He believes although the constitution does not limit the president as to how many people he can hire to work with, downsizing government to reasonable size will make a worthwhile contribution to stabilizing the public purse.
