Some Ministers of State, Members of Parliament and other high profile personalities have been in the news for using their offices to obtain GETfund scholarships to study in international universities.

A performance audit report of the Auditor-General revealed that Education Minister - Dr. Matthew Opoku-Prempeh, Procurement Minister and Deputy Majority Leader in Parliament - Sarah Adwoa Safo as well as the Executive Secretary of the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA), Prince Hamidu Armah have all benefitted from the scheme.

However, since the report came out, several other names have also popped up from the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) as beneficiaries of the GetFund Scholarship scheme.

The NDC General Secretary, Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketia, a.k.a General Mosquito admitted his son once benefited from the scholarship scheme.

The latest revelation has to do with the Ahwoi brothers as it has emerged that, some children of the former NDC Ministers, Kwamena Ahwoi and his brother, Ato Ahwoi benefited from various scholarships to study in International universities.

According to documents available to this portal, three (3) daughters from the Ahwoi family, Nana Esi Ahwoi, Maame Tutuwa Ahwoi and Afua Akyaa Ahwoi all benefited from various scholarships in the country.

For instance, Nana Esi Ahwoi was captured among the 2013-2014 beneficiaries to have received a scholarship to study Business Administration-Finance at West Virginia University, USA.

Also, Maame Adwoa Tutuwa Ahwoi was listed in the 2014-2015 beneficiaries to have awarded a scholarship to study MIB International Business at the University of Grenoble Graduate School of Business, France.

Lastly, Afua Akyaa Ahwoi was also awarded a scholarship at Harvard Business School to pursue 2 years MBA Programme in finance.
