Rot-Weiss Essen has parted ways with German-born Ghanaian defender Aaron Manu just a year after his arrival.
The club and Manu mutually agreed to terminate his contract, as confirmed by his agent, Amir Duheric, although an official announcement from the club is still forthcoming.
Manu joined Rot-Weiss Essen from Erfurt last year but struggled to secure a regular spot in the squad due to injuries, making only three appearances.
During the summer break, the 24-year-old was informed he was free to seek opportunities elsewhere. He is currently in discussions with several regional league teams about his next move.
Manu is the 13th player to exit Rot-Weiss Essen this season. Reflecting on his brief tenure with the club, he said, "I have fond memories of the club, the fans, and the city, and I’m grateful to my teammates for the great teamwork.
While I wish I could have contributed more on the field, I'm excited about the challenges ahead."
The young defender is now focused on finding a new club and continuing his professional career.
