Senegal's prolific forward, Sadio Mané, is set to become the owner of the fourth-tier French football club, Bourges Foot 18.

The 31-year-old has expressed his desire to invest in a football club for some time, and his relationship with former Bourges Foot 18 president, Cheikh Sylla, played a crucial role in his decision to make this investment.

Sylla will continue to serve as the club's president.

Mané had previously provided financial support to the club to aid in player recruitment during the last summer's transfer window, but the official announcement on Wednesday solidifies his ownership of the club.

This move has received the approval of the mayor of the city, Yann Galut.

Bourges Foot 18, situated approximately 250 kilometers from Paris in central France, has never competed in a division higher than the French second division.

Currently, Bourges occupies the second-to-last position in Group B of the Championnat National.

Sadio Mané made a move to the Saudi Pro League side, Al Nassr, on August 1, following a challenging year at Bayern Munich, which included a suspension by the club after an alleged altercation with teammate Leroy Sané following their Champions League defeat to Manchester City.

Mané achieved significant success during his time at Liverpool, winning six trophies, including the Champions League in 2019 and the Premier League in 2020.

His investment in Bourges Foot 18 is seen as a significant step in his commitment to the sport.
