Mohamed Salah once again proved decisive for Liverpool, converting a dramatic 95th-minute penalty to secure a 1-0 win over Burnley at Turf Moor on Sunday.
The Egyptian’s strike not only sealed three points for the champions but also saw him set two historic Premier League records.
-
Salah’s spot-kick was his 35th Premier League penalty goal for Liverpool, surpassing Billy Liddell’s record of 34 to become the club’s all-time leading scorer from the spot.
-
The goal also lifted him to fourth on the Premier League’s all-time scorers list with 188 goals, behind only Wayne Rooney (208), Harry Kane (213), and Alan Shearer (260).
Since joining Liverpool, Salah has amassed 273 goal involvements (188 goals, 85 assists) in 292 league games—over 100 more than any other player in that span.
The win continued a remarkable trend for Arne Slot’s side, who became the first team in Premier League history to win four consecutive matches with goals scored in the final 10 minutes or later.
-
Chiesa and Salah sealed a 4-2 victory against Bournemouth on opening night.
-
Rio Ngumoha netted a 100th-minute winner in the 3-2 triumph over Newcastle.
-
Szoboszlai’s 83rd-minute free-kick downed Arsenal 1-0.

Salah’s late penalty ensured the streak lived on at Burnley.
Salah credited his teammates for grinding out the result:
“Tough opponent today, we tried our best to get the ball between the lines. It was tough but I am glad we managed it. We don’t give up—we push ourselves to the limit and as a team we did that.”
Head coach Arne Slot acknowledged Burnley’s resilience:
“Compliments to Burnley for the way they defended. We needed a moment of luck or magic. We didn’t have the magic but we had the luck, and in the end we got what we were hoping for.”
