The Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Sam George, has praised the Cyber Security Authority (CSA) and national security agencies following the arrest of 32 Nigerian nationals linked to an alleged romance scam operation in Kasoa Tuba.

Reacting to the development on social media platform X, the minister described the coordinated raid as a significant step forward in the government’s fight against cyber-related crimes, highlighting the strong collaboration between the CSA and the National Security apparatus.
Mr George assured the public of government’s continued backing for the CSA, stressing that Ghana will not be allowed to become a hub for online fraud and digital criminal activity.

Security sources say the suspects were part of a sophisticated online scam network that targeted victims in several countries, manipulating emotional relationships to defraud them of money and other valuables.
The arrests form part of a wider national strategy to clamp down on cybercrime, which has seen a sharp rise in recent years, affecting both Ghanaians and foreign nationals.
Authorities say investigations are still underway to uncover the full scope of the operation, trace financial transactions, and identify additional accomplices.
More arrests are expected as security agencies intensify efforts to dismantle other cybercrime networks operating within the country.
