Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram in the Greater Accra Region, Sam George has been vindicated following the Black Stars elimination from the 2019 Afcon.

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Legislator had criticised the crop of players assembled for the tournament, saying they will not be able to end Ghana's 37 years old trophy draught.

Accordingto him, the dream of winning this year’s AFCON is just a mirage since he believes Ghana did not have the required players for the task.

"You k3nt score Benin. Benin Republic oh. Nigeria or Tunisia or Egypt no come yet oh. Y3n ko ti a, year of return. You would not return with even indomie. Disband the Black Stars and build a new team from the U-21" Sam George said in a pidgin-filled tweet.

Despite having his statement analysed with political spectacle amid backlash from his political opponents, it was the Black stars who made it come to reality as they flaunderd at the Ismailia stadium.

Coach Kwesi Appiah's side had their dream crushed by the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia in a penalty shootout.

A  5-4 lost in the shootouts to ended up destroying the hugely-financed Government project christined "the year of return".

Tunisia goalkeeper Farouk Ben Mustapha was the hero after saving Ghana's third kick of the night

He was only brought on for the shootout and he managed to save Caleb Ekuban's penalty.
Mubarak Wakaso and Jordan Ayew had scored Ghana's first two kicks but the Leeds United striker Ekuban was the only player to fail with his kick in the shootout, with Ferjani Sassi scoring the winning kick.
Tunisia had been seconds away from winning in 90 minutes, but substitute Rami Bedoui headed into his own net in injury time, with his first touch.
They had led in Ismailia through Taha Yassine Khenissi's goal from Wajdi Kechrida's cross.
Tunisia, who last won the Africa Cup of Nations in 2004, now face surprise package Madagascar, ranked 108th in the world, on Thursday.
The elimination of the Black Stars means the four times African Champions will have to fight again to qualify for the 2021 Afcon to begin a search for another trophy in 39 years.
