Government has refuted reports that the Second Lady Samira Bawumia will be traveling with a Ghanaian delegation of twenty people to this year’s World Health Organization (WHO) Global Conference on Air Pollution to be held in Geneva, Switzerland.

A letter purported to have been issued by the Office of the Second Lady addressed to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, requested the Minister’s support to enable the appropriate Shengen visas to be obtained for a twenty member delegation including the Vice President’s wife to enable them attend the said conference slated for 28th October to 2nd November 2018.

The said list included Senior aides, Security officers, protocol officers, media aides, photographers, A Lady-in-waiting among others.

The said list comes after it emerged that Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia led a twenty two-man delegation to the United Nations Trade and Development Conference in Geneva, Switzerland in 2017, while other member countries presented an average of five participants.

But Dr. Gideon Boako, the Economic Advisor to Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia in an interview with Starr FM denied the alleged list from Second Lady’s office and urged the public to disregard the report.

“The Second Lady per protocol arrangement is supposed to travel with a maximum of seven people, but even my checks indicate that she has been traveling with six people. A few weeks ago she was  in South Africa you can cross-check she went with six people. I think people just concocted this when this one came up just to throw something out. The Second Lady’s list they’ve been sending around is not true.”
