The Director General of the National Lottery Authority (NLA), Samuel Awuku, on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, cut the sod for the construction of an ultramodern basketball and volleyball court for Okuapeman School in Akropong, Eastern Region.

This was in fulfilment of an appeal made by Osabarima Ansah Sasraku III, Mamfehene and Kyidomhene of the Akuapem Traditional Area.

“I am excited to be here not just as a guest, but as a true son of Akuapem land, and this gesture is just the beginning of the relationship between Okuapeman Senior High School and myself,” Mr. Awuku said.

Mr. Awuku further requested that the facility be named after Osabarima Ansah Sasraku III upon completion, in recognition of his exceptional leadership and commitment to the school’s development.

The headmaster of Okuapeman School, Rev. Daniel Afari, thanked Mr. Sammi Awuku for his continuous support towards education in the municipality, and said that the facility had come at a very opportune time and would go a long way to serve the school and the good people of Akuapem.

For his part, Osabarima Ansah Sasraku III expressed his gratitude for the honor done him by Mr. Awuku and urged the contractor to meet the timelines so that the students could benefit from the facility as soon as possible.

In other news, Mr. Awuku is constructing a sitting-capacity astroturf in Akropong, as well as roofing and ceiling for the Akropong Salem School.
