Sarkodie's Paris performance cancelled due to contractual disputes
10th August 2024
Ghanaian artiste Sarkodie’s show at Station Afrique in Paris has been cancelled.
The announcement was made by Eagle Plug, the agency representing the award-winning rapper, who cited unresolved contractual issues as the reason for the abrupt cancellation.
According to a press statement issued by Eagle Plug on August 9, 2024, the performance was initially scheduled as part of the Africa Fan Zone event at Station Afrique.
“Eagle Plug regrets to announce the cancellation of Sarkodie’s scheduled performance at the Station Afrique (Africa Fan Zone) event in Paris today, August 9, 2024.
“Although our best efforts were made to honour the commitment, the agency responsible for the event has failed to fulfill its obligations.
“The contract was signed two months ago, but the agency has failed to fulfill the conditions precedent to enable Sarkodie to perform. Despite the failure of the agency to respect the terms of the contract, Eagle Plug did all within its power to get our artiste and his team to come to Paris in anticipation of the agency keeping its part of the bargain.
“Throughout this period, we have exercised patience and understanding, fully aware of the complexities involved in organizing an event of this scale. However, even after the agency’s repeated assurances that all issues would be resolved upon our arrival in Paris, nothing changed,” part of the statement said.
According to the press statement, despite ongoing efforts by Eagle Plug to ensure that Sarkodie and his team could make the appearance, the agency’s repeated assurances that the issues would be resolved upon the artist’s arrival in Paris proved to be unfulfilled.
“As much as Sarkodie was eager to perform for the wonderful fans who came out to support him, we have been left with no choice but to cancel his performance at the last minute due to the failure of the agency to respect the agreement executed between the parties.
“We sincerely apologize to the fans for this disappointment and hope to see you soon under better circumstances,” the statement added.
