Semenyo hails Bournemouth’s Premier League surge after stunning comeback win
4th October 2025
Ghanaian forward Antoine Semenyo has described AFC Bournemouth’s climb to second place in the Premier League as a remarkable milestone following their 3-1 comeback victory over Fulham at the Vitality Stadium.
After a tense first half, Ryan Sessegnon gave the visitors the lead, but Bournemouth roared back in style — with Semenyo netting twice and Justin Kluivert adding another to complete a thrilling turnaround.
Reflecting on his first goal in an interview with Premier League Productions, the 25-year-old detailed his thought process:
“I was thinking, just beat the full-back, get down the by-line, maybe cross it. But all the options were blocked, and I was looking at the keeper’s legs. Execution was right — great finish.”
He added that confidence and team spirit have been key to his form this season.
“I’m just playing with confidence, enjoying playing with this team. Loving every moment,” he said.
Semenyo described the team’s rise to second place as a proud moment heading into the international break.
“What an evening. I can’t even explain the feeling — going second before the break is a big achievement for us. We’ve just got to keep pushing,” he noted.
The victory takes Andoni Iraola’s side to 14 points, marking an impressive start to the campaign.
Semenyo’s brace took his tally to six goals and three assists, underlining his status as one of the standout performers in the league so far.
His outstanding run has also earned him a spot in Otto Addo’s 24-man Ghana squad for the upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifiers against the Central African Republic and Comoros.
