Police in the Eastern Region have apprehended an individual suspected of orchestrating a systematic campaign of violence against women and children, beginning with the assault and sexual abuse of a victim at Okorase Junction in Koforidua and extending across a network of predatory offences spanning the surrounding communities.

Isaac Anim was taken into custody on Friday, June 26, following intelligence-driven pursuit to his hideout at Awukugwa near Adukrom.

His apprehension culminated an investigation launched after the victim reported being attacked, robbed and sexually assaulted on June 15, 2026.

The June 15 assault unfolded with systematic brutality.

The suspect accosted the woman at Okorase Junction, subjecting her to physical violence before extracting an iPhone 11, US$200 in currency and a package of food.

He then subjected her to sexual assault before absconding.

The investigation trajectory shifted when officers recovered the victim’s mobile device during the arrest operation.

Subsequent examination revealed that the suspect had deployed the victim’s SIM card as an instrument for financial theft, fraudulently extracting funds from mobile money vendors using the compromised credentials.

The suspect has been transferred to the Eastern Regional Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit, which is conducting expanded investigations as preliminary inquiries have expanded the investigative scope beyond the singular June 15 incident.

Investigators have now linked Anim to six additional violent offences within the Okorase area, offences encompassing robbery, rape and the sexual abuse of a child — specifically the defilement of a 10-year-old girl.

The expanded pattern suggests a predator operating with sustained impunity until apprehension.

The Eastern Regional Police Command has reaffirmed institutional commitment to victim protection and asset security, assuring the public that investigative work will continue with vigour and that judicial proceedings will commence upon the conclusion of evidence assembly.

Official Ghana Police press release with police crest, dated 30th June 2026, announcing the arrest of Isaac Anim for assault, robbery and rape in Okorase, Koforidua.
