The 2025/26 UEFA Champions League League Phase will feature a strong contingent of Ghanaian internationals, with several exciting head-to-head clashes lined up.

Inaki Williams (Athletic Club) and Mohammed Fuseini Gadafi (Union Saint-Gilloise) will both lock horns with Kamaldeen Sulemana (Atalanta BC) in a group that promises fireworks.

For Sulemana and Fuseini, this season marks their first-ever taste of Europe’s most prestigious competition. The pair, both products of the Right to Dream Academy, have taken different paths to the top.

Fuseini, who made history as captain by guiding Union Saint-Gilloise to their first league title in 90 years, now leads his Belgian side into their maiden Champions League campaign. Sulemana, meanwhile, has established himself as one of the most exciting Ghanaian forwards in Europe and is poised to announce himself on the grand stage.

Elsewhere, three of Ghana’s biggest stars are also set for an all-Ghanaian showdown. Thomas Partey (Villarreal CF) and Mohammed Salisu (AS Monaco) will be up against Mohammed Kudus (Tottenham Hotspur) in the League Phase.

Partey enters the campaign as the most experienced Ghanaian in the competition, boasting seven seasons of UCL football with Atlético Madrid and Arsenal. He featured in the 2016 final, where Atlético lost to Real Madrid, and has contributed 2 goals and 3 assists in his Champions League career.

Kudus returns to the competition after a stellar spell at Ajax, where between 2020 and 2023, he played 9 games, scoring 4 goals and providing 2 assists.

Defender Mohammed Salisu is also entering the new campaign with momentum, having scored his first-ever UCL goal during the 2024/25 season. The AS Monaco center-back is keen to add to his tally as he continues his growth in European football.

Elsewhere, two other Ghanaian internationals will meet in another exciting showdown. Emmanuel Addai (Qarabağ FK) will face Iñaki Williams (Athletic Club) in Group Phase action. Both are Champions League debutants, and the pair will be hoping to make a statement against some of Europe’s elite sides.
