A fierce fire swept through a cluster of makeshift commercial and residential structures near SoccerBet at Tudu, destroying seven rooms and valuable property on Wednesday afternoon.

A preliminary assessment by the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) indicates that household belongings and cash amounting to GH¢1,200 were lost in the blaze. Firefighters, however, managed to save 18 other rooms and their contents, preventing what could have been a far more devastating outcome.

The fire broke out at about 1:15 p.m. and spread rapidly through the congested structure. Fire crews responded within minutes, but efforts to control the flames were hampered by limited water supply, accessibility challenges, and the speed at which the fire spread.

Given the intensity of the inferno, three additional fire tenders were deployed to support the initial response. Firefighters battled the flames for several hours before finally bringing the situation under control.

No injuries or fatalities were recorded.

Authorities have launched investigations to determine the cause of the fire, while affected residents and shop owners begin counting their losses amid the charred remains of the structures.
