A popular Christian preacher, Rev Dr Abbeam Ampomah Danso, is daring other religious leaders and Christians in Ghana who are against the legalisation of marijuana to quote from the Bible where it is forbidden.

Rev. Dr Abbeam Ampomah Danso is daring other preachers in the Christian faith who have taken a stand against the legalisation of marijuana to cite a source in the Bible that shows the usage of marijuana is immoral.

Rev Danso, who was speaking in an interview with Franky 5 on Hitz FM, said the stance taken by anti-marijuana pastors and Ghanaians at large, lacks Biblical support.

He noted that the plant, also known as cannabis, just like anything created by God, is blessed for utility by people.

"Go into the scriptures and tell me where it is written that there is cannabis and it is a plant for the devil.

There is nothing like that. We all can prove and we are all sure that the Bible says that, the plants are blessed for us to use to cure sicknesses", Rev Danso continued.

His comments follow news that the Church of England's plans to invest part of its $10.5 Billion fund in cannabis.

Forbes reported that the Church of England, the mother of the international Anglican Communion, led by Queen Elizabeth II, will be changing its investment fund’s rules to allow for investments in medical cannabis, which is now legal in the U.K. under certain circumstances.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Director of the Narcotics Control Board, Michael Addo, as told the public that his outfit has found that some foods sold to young people in second cycle schools are being prepared with marijuana.

Addo there urged parents to take interest in what their wards consume while in school.

He added that failure to do so is the reason many students were resorting to unscrupulous vendors whose products were laced with illegal and dangerous substances.
