The Ghana Police Service has arrested six students of Aggrey Memorial Senior High School for their alleged involvement in the assault and robbery of a final-year student of Adisadel College in Cape Coast.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, the Central Regional Police Command said the incident took place on Friday, February 20, at about 3:30 p.m., shortly after the close of an inter-colleges sports festival at the Cape Coast Stadium.
The victim, Rexford Owusu-Ansah, was reportedly attacked at Pedu Junction while returning to campus with two friends. Police said the suspects stopped the trio to verify whether they were students of Adisadel College before allegedly launching a coordinated assault.
While the two accompanying students managed to escape, Rexford was reportedly overpowered, knocked to the ground and beaten. During the attack, the suspects are accused of making away with his iPhone 17 Pro Max, an amount of GH¢1,400 and his shoes.
Later that evening, school authorities handed over the six juvenile suspects to the Kotokuraba Police Station at about 7:30 p.m. for further investigations.
Rexford was initially treated at the stadium clinic before being referred to the Cape Coast Regional Hospital, where he was discharged on Sunday, February 22. A police medical report endorsed by a doctor confirmed that he sustained a fracture near his right eye, leaving him temporarily unable to open it.
Police also disclosed that the victim’s two friends have indicated they can identify the attackers.
Condemning the incident, the Central Regional Police Command assured the public that due process would be followed and that the juvenile suspects would be dealt with in accordance with the law. The statement was signed by Acting Head of Public Affairs, ASP Patrick Bentum.
