Six people have sustained injuries following a road crash on the Kumasi–Accra Highway near Akyem Enyiresi in Ghana’s Eastern Region.

The collision occurred close to the WAPCO Filling Station and involved a Toyota Vitz with registration number GW 707-24 travelling from Accra toward Kumasi, and a Hyundai Santa Fe (GB 2734-25) heading in the opposite direction.

Preliminary reports indicate that the Toyota Vitz veered off its lane and crashed head-on into the oncoming vehicle.

According to a statement from the Ghana National Fire Service, firefighters from the Anyinam Fire Station were immediately deployed to the scene after receiving a distress call.

A seven-member rescue team led by Kubetew Alfred arrived shortly after the alert and assisted in responding to the emergency.

The injured victims — four men and two women — were transported to the Enyiresi Government Hospital to receive medical treatment.

Both vehicles involved in the accident suffered severe damage to their front sections due to the force of the impact.
