The Ashanti Chapter of the Ghana National Association of Small Scale Miners is reminding all small scale miners to warm up for the biggest showdown of its impending demonstration in Kumasi in the Ashanti region slated for Tuesday 20th November, 2018.

This comes after the leadership of the Association presented a notice for its planned demonstration to the Ashanti Regional Police Command.

Organizers of the event has been invited by the police for a meeting to consider finishing touches of the event on Monday.

A press Statement by the leadership of the Association says the impending march “will shake the streets of Kumasi and again send signal to the whole world about the unfair treatment meted out to indigenous small scale miners by the NPP government.”

Government, in 2017 suspended artisanal and small scale mining activities in the country to enable it come out with a comprehensive structure and regulation for sustainable mining, but the government is yet to normalize activities in the sector after its intervention.
