Sad news reaching us indicates gunmen wearing military uniforms have shot dead a Ghanaian policewoman at a checkpoint in the Northern region.

The incident happened barely a week after President Nana Akufo-Addo appointed Mr. James Oppong-Boanuh as the acting IGP. It followed a directive for Mr. David Asante-Appeatu to proceed on leave with immediate effect.

The disturbing development, according to a report filed by Daily Mail GH, occurred Tuesday evening July 30, 2019.

The name of the deceased was only given as Corporal Agartha.

Northern regional crime officer Superintendent Otuo Acheampong, who confirmed the incident to Daily Mail GH said, the robbers also seized weapons belonging to the police at the checkpoint.

Mr. Otuo Acheampong disclosed that another policewoman also at the checkpoint bolted for fear of losing her life.

He said the gunmen made away with two riffles after their operation.
