Sports and Recreation Minister of South Africa, Tokozile Xasa has disclosed that her country are interested in hosting next year's Africa Cup of Nations.
According to her, the Government of the country will accept the right to welcome other African countries to their cities provided CAF turn to them.
“We are indeed interested in taking over the hosting of the Afcon next year.We have all the infrastructure and stadiums to host this kind of event like we did in 2010 with the Fifa World Cup,” she told the press on Saturday in Ghana after Banyana Banyana lost 4-3 on penalties to Nigeria.
“It’s up to Caf to approach us but as far as we are concerned we are ready to take over from Cameroon.”
She added that South Africa would not tender in a bid to host next year Africa Cup of Nations;"We won’t bid for the hosting rights, Caf must come to us and we will consider hosting but we won’t bid for the rights to host.”
Cameron were denied hosting following chaos and late development in infrastructure to stage 24-countries.Leading to an extraordinary executive committee meeting in Ghana, Accra, lasting almost 10 hours on Friday.
The tournament is scheduled to take place in a new host country from June 13 to July 15 of that year.However, South Africa, Egypt and Morocco stands the chance to winning the hosting right.
