Premier League returnees Southampton are reportedly targeting West Bromwich Albion striker Brandon Thomas-Asante as a key acquisition in this transfer window.

The move is part of the Saints’ strategy to fill the void left by Che Adams, who is set to join Torino.

Thomas-Asante, 25, has been a prolific presence at West Brom since his transfer from Salford in 2022.

He emerged as the club’s top scorer in both of his initial seasons at The Hawthorns, showcasing his goal-scoring abilities and versatility across the frontline.

Southampton's interest in Thomas-Asante comes in the wake of Adams' impending departure to Serie A side Torino.

Adams, a Scotland international, has been a crucial player for the Saints, making 191 appearances, including 46 last season, and playing a significant role in their promotion back to the Premier League.

With Thomas-Asante’s contract at West Brom expiring next summer, the current transfer window presents an opportunity for the club to capitalize on his value.

Despite lacking Premier League experience, Thomas-Asante has demonstrated his goal-scoring prowess across various divisions, having climbed from the National League to the Championship.

If Southampton secures Thomas-Asante’s services, he will be expected to address the club’s scoring issues.

During their 2022-23 Premier League campaign, Southampton managed only 36 goals, contributing to their relegation.

Thomas-Asante also recently debuted for Ghana in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, scoring in a 4-3 victory over the Central African Republic at Baba Yara Stadium.

Last season, he netted 11 goals in the English Championship, further highlighting his potential impact at Southampton.
