Ghana international Tariq Lamptey is on the verge of becoming a free agent, with his contract at Brighton and Hove Albion set to expire on June 30, 2025.
The 24-year-old defender, who joined the Seagulls from Chelsea in 2020, has been a key figure for the club, particularly under former manager Roberto De Zerbi.
However, with no renewal talks currently underway, Lamptey could see his five-year stay at the club come to an end.
If a new deal is not agreed upon soon, the pacey right-back will be forced to seek a new club ahead of the upcoming season. Lamptey will also miss Brighton’s final Premier League game of the season against Tottenham Hotspur due to injury.
He was absent from the squad during their recent 3-2 win over Liverpool, having suffered a knee injury in the previous match against Wolves—just weeks after returning from a foot problem.
This latest setback marks his second consecutive absence, adding to a frustrating season in which injuries limited him to just 15 Premier League appearances.
Despite these challenges, Lamptey managed to contribute two goals and two assists in the league. Across all competitions, he played 20 matches and was directly involved in five goals for the club.
