Southampton have turned down a £10 million offer from Italian Serie A outfit Atalanta for Ghanaian international Kamaldeen Sulemana, according to Sky Sports News.
The 22-year-old winger has emerged as a hot prospect on the transfer market following Southampton’s relegation from the English Premier League after a woeful 2023/24 campaign.
Despite an injury-plagued season, Sulemana remains one of the Saints’ most valuable assets, and the club has made it clear they will not sanction a cut-price exit.
Sulemana, who joined Southampton from Ligue 1 side Stade Rennais in January 2023, has shown flashes of brilliance with his explosive pace, sharp dribbling, and fearless attacking runs.
His profile has sparked interest from multiple clubs across Europe. Alongside Atalanta, Serie A rivals Genoa and Torino, Dutch giants Ajax, and Turkish side Trabzonspor are all reportedly monitoring his situation closely.
Southampton are believed to be holding out for a significantly higher fee, given the winger’s contract runs until 2027 and his market potential despite limited output in the just-ended season.
Sulemana made 26 appearances for the Saints in the Premier League in 2023/24, scoring once and providing one assist, as the club endured a disastrous campaign — finishing bottom of the table with just 12 points.
With the Saints now preparing for life in the English Championship, Sulemana’s future remains uncertain. The player is currently on holiday and is expected to consider his options before returning for pre-season.
If no transfer materializes, he will remain at St. Mary’s for the upcoming Championship season — though interest is likely to intensify in the coming weeks.
