Speaker Bagbin urges Ga Royal families to unite for development of Accra
10th October 2025
The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, has called on members of the Ga royal and traditional families to foster unity and harness the power of chieftaincy and tradition as instruments for the development of Accra and the nation at large.
He emphasized that Ghana’s overall progress is deeply tied to the growth of its capital city, urging the Ga people to take the lead in driving transformative initiatives within the Greater Accra Region.
“Just as other nations have used their royal institutions to drive development, the Ga royal families must come together to play a unifying and developmental role,” Speaker Bagbin stated.
He made these remarks when a delegation from the family of the late Madam Agnes Yacoba Conduah, mother of Alfred Okoe Vanderpuije, Member of Parliament for Ablekuma South, paid a courtesy call on him in Parliament to formally announce her passing.
The delegation, led by Jacob Herbert Nii Okanta Vanderpuije, officially invited the Speaker to the funeral, scheduled for Thursday, October 16, 2025.
Former MP for Odododiodio, Edwin Nii Lante Vanderpuije, who was part of the delegation, expressed gratitude to the Speaker for his warm reception and for his consistent advocacy for the development of Greater Accra.
