Police personnel who went to cast their vote at the Tamale Central constituency of the Northern  region have vandalized EC materials and chased away officials of the commission after realising their names were not again captured on the register.

Numbering over 20 they exhibited raw anger by kicking ballot boxes, booths,  bags and everything at sight in the polling station at the regional police headquarters, halting the process.

The angry personnel chased away officials of the commission who were fleeing and gave them ten minutes to vacate the police premise.

Some unspecified items of the commission have been damaged.

The timely intervention of the regional  police commander DCOP Ken Yeboah saved the situation.

They had threatened earlier on Dec. 1 to pepper spray the officials of the commission who they accused of plotting to disenfranchised them.

They told Kasapa News in an exclusive interview that the EC were conniving to disenfranchised the elite.

DCOP Yeboah later said the personnel  will be punished.

Armed police personnel have now been deployed to man the volatile poling centre.
