Special voting for Ghana's 2024 general elections has officially commenced in the Eastern and Western Regions.

This critical exercise allows security personnel, election officials, and other essential workers, who will be on duty during the main election day, to cast their votes in advance.

Reports from polling stations indicate a smooth start to the process, with many voters arriving early to cast their ballots.

Electoral Commission (EC) officials are ensuring strict adherence to electoral guidelines, with polling centers equipped with biometric verification devices to confirm voter identity. Security personnel are also present to maintain order.

In the Eastern Region, key constituencies like Koforidua and Akim Oda have recorded significant voter turnout. Similarly, in the Western Region, polling stations in Sekondi and Takoradi are experiencing steady participation.

The EC has reiterated its commitment to transparency and accuracy, urging voters and stakeholders to maintain decorum throughout the process. Ballot boxes will be secured and counted under strict supervision to ensure the integrity of the exercise.

The outcome of the special voting will be held confidential until the official election day, ensuring fairness in the overall process.

As Ghana approaches the critical polls, the peaceful conduct of the special voting exercise underscores the nation’s commitment to democratic principles.
