Ghana’s Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has attributed the country’s recent sporting achievements to deliberate reforms and targeted investments, declaring that Ghana is now “reaping the benefits” of disciplined planning and execution.
Speaking at the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) Awards last Saturday, Adams highlighted the ministry’s efforts over the past two years to restructure sports administration and strengthen institutional capacity.
“We made tough decisions, invested deliberately, and Ghana is now reaping the benefits,” he said.
The Buem Constituency MP pointed to several milestones as evidence of Ghana’s upward trajectory:
- Black Stars’ qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup
- Resurgence of the Black Queens in continental competition
- University for Development Studies’ historic win at the Universities World Cup in China
“Our athletes are excelling across disciplines, and Ghana has firmly established itself as a credible force in both African and global sports,” Adams added.
He emphasized that these successes are not accidental, but the result of policy clarity, rigorous preparation, and disciplined execution. Calling on stakeholders to sustain the momentum, Adams urged continued collaboration and consistency.
“This performance is the result of policy, preparation, and discipline — not luck. We must continue to work consistently; success favors persistence.”
