Ghana’s Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Iddi Adams, has pledged continued support for emerging boxing talent Theo Allotey following his latest international success.

In a message shared publicly, the minister praised Allotey after what he described as a “strong victory” at the Legacy Rise promotion, highlighting the boxer’s rapid progression through the ranks.

Allotey’s journey has seen him rise from a national champion to securing both the WBO Global and WBO Africa titles, achievements Mr Adams said were the result of “discipline, consistency and real growth.”

The minister noted that the boxer is now ranked among top contenders globally, urging him to remain focused as he prepares for the next stage of his career.

“This is not by chance,” Mr Adams said, emphasising that Allotey’s success reflects a deliberate and sustained effort.

The statement also formed part of a broader message about the future of boxing in Ghana, a sport with a long and celebrated history in the country. Mr Adams said the government is working to “reposition boxing” by improving structures, increasing support, and creating the right environment for athletes to thrive.

“Stories like this remind us that the talent is here,” he said. “What is required is structure, support and the right environment to grow champions.”

In a show of personal commitment, the minister revealed he has made a financial contribution to support Allotey’s training and indicated that the Ministry would continue to explore ways to assist his development.

He concluded with a message of encouragement to the boxer: to remain disciplined, trust the process, and heed the guidance of his coaches, adding that the nation stands firmly behind him.

Ghana has produced some of Africa’s most celebrated boxing figures, and officials hope Allotey’s rise signals a new generation ready to follow in their footsteps.
