The Sports Ministry of Ghana has officially distanced itself from a visa scandal involving a group that claimed to be members of the Ghana Paralympic team.

In a recent statement, the ministry clarified that the incident involving the purported Paralympic team does not reflect the values and integrity of Ghana's sports community.

The statement read, "It is important to note that while this incident is unfortunate, it does not define the dedication and integrity of the entire sports fraternity."

The ministry highlighted the consistent discipline and commitment of Ghanaian athletes and officials, who have brought pride to the nation through their performances at various international competitions.

The statement also clarified that the Sports Ministry was unaware of any Paralympic team participation in the marathon event.

According to a letter from the Ministry of National Security, nine members of the group in question are currently on the run after allegedly impersonating athletes to obtain visas to Norway.

The individuals reportedly failed to attend the scheduled event and subsequently absconded.
