Some supporters of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) have petitioned the National Executives Committee (NEC) to stop former Central Regional Chairman, Bernard Allotey Jacobs from representing the party on media platforms.

The petition stated that Allotey has not been representing the party well in the media.

The group believes that Allotey hardly does enough to push the agenda of the largest opposition party when he appears on radio and TV.

Allotey Jacobs has been the face of the party on several radio and TV platforms, especially on Adom TV, Adom FM and Peace FM.

He was known to be a chief critic of the party’s General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketia during the party’s recent National Executive Elections.

He called on delegates of the party to vote for his competitor, Koku Anyidoho as according to him, Asiedu Nketia is arrogant.

The ban on Allotey seems to have already been in force as he has not been representing the NDC on Adom TV on Tuesdays.

He has been replaced with NDC MP, Kwabena Minta Akandoh, who the party believes can match maverick NPP MP, Ken Agyapong who is a regular panelist on Adom TV on Tuesdays.

It appears the attempt to prevent Allotey from appearing on Peace FM on Wednesdays has hit a snag as the main host of the show, Kwame Sefa Kayi is known to be a personal friend of the former Central Regional Chairman.

Commenting on this petition on Accra-based Asempa FM on Thursday, Allotey Jacobs said he remains unperturbed about the development.

He insisted that he will continue to campaign for former President John Dramani Mahama to become the President of Ghana.

“I am objective and criticise the party when I have to so the executives can take any decision they want to but one thing I know for sure is that my vote and that of my wife and children are for Mahama,” he said.
