Broadcast journalist Okatakyie Afrifa-Mensah has expressed anger over recent comments made by media personality Nana Yaa Brefo during an interview on Kwaku Manu TV.
In the interview, which aired on November 4, 2024, Nana Yaa Brefo shared some of the reasons behind her departure from Angel FM.
She claimed that when Okatakyie Afrifa-Mensah joined the station, her role was sidelined, leaving her with little to do.
"This job of ours, if you don't have something to do, you lose value. When Okatakyie came in, I didn’t know what I was doing anymore. I wanted to understand my role and have my own space, but it wasn’t happening. It seemed like he didn’t want me doing certain things, and eventually, I ended up staying home for months without working," she said.
However, these comments did not sit well with Okatakyie Afrifa-Mensah, who responded angrily during one of his shows. He demanded that Nana Yaa Brefo stop making negative comments about him.
"You people should tell Nana Yaa Brefo, whose face looks like mine, to respect herself. I’ve deliberately ignored her comments, but I called her some time ago to settle this issue. So, I don’t understand why she would sit on air and make such negative statements about me," he fumed.
Okatakyie went on to warn Nana Yaa Brefo that if he is forced to address the issue publicly, it could escalate into something unpleasant.
"When I get angry and come after her, she might not like it, because this whole issue will get very messy," he added.
Okatakyie further directed his anger at his colleagues at Angel FM.
"I hate hypocrisy. You people have taken my salary to the point where I don’t even have a pesewa left in my account. Yet, behind my back, you make serious allegations about me. You journalists here at Angel FM are ungrateful," he fumed.
