The Minister for Roads and Highways, Kwame Governs Agbodza, has announced that construction work on the stalled Suame Interchange Project in Kumasi will resume next week after government cleared outstanding payments owed to contractors.
In a social media post on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, the minister explained that debts relating to certified works—unpaid since 2024—have now been settled, removing a major obstacle that had slowed progress on the project.
He indicated that contractors are expected to remobilise to site in the coming days to continue work on the critical road infrastructure.
The Suame Interchange Project, a key intervention to ease traffic congestion in Kumasi, has experienced delays in recent months, sparking concerns among residents and commuters over worsening traffic and its impact on economic activity.
Mr. Agbodza thanked the public for their patience and reaffirmed government’s commitment to completing the project, improving road infrastructure, and enhancing mobility within the Ashanti regional capital.
