Subin MP reveals cause of NPP’s defeat in 2024 election
9th December 2024
Member of Parliament (MP) for Subin in the Ashanti region, Eugene Boakye Antwi has stated the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) lost the 2024 election in the last quarter of 2022.
This according to him was the time the call for the dismissal of former Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta over the mismanagement of the economy heightened.
The MP raised these concerns in a post on Facebook, emphasising Ghanaians punished the NPP government for turning a deaf ear to their plight.
He emphasized that, keeping Mr Ofori-Atta in office until February 2024 demonstrated the NPP’s disregard for its constituents.
Mr Antwi also highlighted the alarming voter apathy, citing that almost a third of registered voters six million were absent.
Meanwhile, Mr Antwi is not returning to Parliament after losing the NPP primaries on January 27, 2024.
He lost the election to first-timer, Kofi Obiri Yeboah.
Mr Antwi was one of some 98 NPP MPs who fiercely criticised and demanded the immediate removal of Mr Ofori-Atta.
