The high-pitch fever of the manifesto launch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the 2016 general election has caught up with almost the entire Sunyani township.

The infectious enthusiasm has defied intermittent rains since Saturday dawn, with the yet to clear clouds still hiding the sun as at 9 am.

Some main roads leading to the venue;  the Sunyani Coronation Park, were blocked with police riot control vehicles while some armed and bullet-proof-jacket-wearing police-cum-military officers directed traffic around 8.30pm on Friday.

Many more roads have been redirected early morning (Saturday), with police officers enduring smooth traffic flow in the intermittent drizzle.

Loud sounds of sirens, flashes of security lights and hazard lights of ambulances, four wheel drives and police pick-ups could be seen and heard around almost everywhere around the venue.

Crowd

The central business district of Sunyani and the areas around the venue of the launch have been inundated with NDC colours from people wearing all kinds of NDC dresses and paraphernalia as well as vehicles with NDC flags around them.

As at 8.30am, about a quarter of the Coronation Park stands had been filled to capacity with more people standing outside while others yet roamed the city.

As though red coloured buses were specifically meant for the campaign launch travelers, many participants who have come to the venue were on red buses.

Sales

Commercial activities in the town especially around the venue have witnessed a major boom.

Long queues have been formed at food joints, especially where fufu is on the menu.

NDC paraphernalia sellers are also in good business today.
