How does this remedy help?

Needless to say, turmeric is a great healing root which has the most essential component, curcumin, which is full of anti-oxidants and anti-inflammatory properties. Ginger, on the other hand, is a warm root which is excellent to soothe a sore and irritated throat. It has an active component, gingerol, which fights the virus and protects you from further danger and infections. When you have a concoction of ginger and turmeric, it gives a boost to the immune system and gets rid of the virus at the base level. Thus, the infection goes away and heals in no time. The drink also contains the benefits of lime juice and Vitamin C, which strengthen your immunity.

However, just because turmeric is a natural healer doesn't mean you have it in heaps. Too much of turmeric can be risky for the body and cause side-effects. You can also give other home remedies a try, which are not just cost-effective but also better at fighting infections than regular antibiotics.
